The rising stars of Rough Trade, Los Angeles-based The Sophs, are coming to Istanbul for the first time with the support of %100 Music.
The six-piece band from Los Angeles will take the stage at Blind Istanbul on May 6. As the newest signing of the legendary record label Rough Trade, the group has quickly captured attention with their electrifying energy and genre-defying sound.
Frontman Ethan Ramon’s charismatic stage presence and his approach to “turning even the most honest and uncomfortable thoughts into songs” give The Sophs a unique edge — blending punk, funk, blues, emo, and even vaudeville influences. This fusion makes them not only one of the most distinctive new voices of their generation but also a strong contender for the big stages of the future.
After hearing the band’s demo recordings, Rough Trade founders Geoff Travis and Jeannette Lee said, “Our hearts started racing — we knew we had to reach out immediately,” and welcomed The Sophs into the label’s roster. Currently working on their debut album “GOLDSTAR,” the band will be performing some of their new songs live for the first time on this tour.
With Ethan Ramon’s emotionally charged and unpredictable vocals, Sam Yuh’s keys, Austin Parker Jones’ striking guitar solos, and the band’s collective on-stage chemistry, The Sophs’ shows become a form of controlled chaos — a constantly shifting wave of energy, always ready to erupt.
On May 6, the Blind stage will witness this energy in Istanbul for the very first time.
