Naaz --

Naaz Mohammed (born June 8, 1998), professionally known as
Naaz, is a Dutch-Kurdish singer and songwriter. Born and
raised in the Netherlands, Naaz first gained public attention after auditioning for
Holland’s Got Talent in 2014, where her emotional performance left a strong
impression on audiences and media alike.



Naaz was born in Gorinchem and moved to Rotterdam at the age
of two. Her parents fled Iraqi Kurdistan during the Gulf War, carrying with
them a history shaped by displacement and resilience. Her father is a doctor, while her
mother works as his assistant, and their life experiences deeply influenced Naaz’s artistic
identity.



During her school years, Naaz experienced bullying, which became a defining
part of her personal journey. She found emotional support and encouragement through one of
her teachers, whose words helped her discover the healing power of music and self-expression.



A serious car accident in which her parents were injured marked a major
turning point for the family. Prior to the accident, music was discouraged and Naaz lived
under strict rules, including a conservative dress code. Afterward, the family became more
open, emotionally connected, and supportive of her creative ambitions.



Naaz’s music is deeply personal, blending alternative pop,
R&B, and minimalist production with themes of identity, freedom, trauma, and
self-acceptance. Her honest lyrics and intimate vocal style have made her a distinctive voice
in contemporary European pop music.
