Formed in Tunisia in 2001 and later relocating to France to secure their place on international stages, Myrath ushered in a new era in metal with a distinctive sound that fuses melodic riffs, cinematic orchestral textures, and rhythms rooted in African and Indo-European traditions—aptly described as “blazing desert metal.”
Founded in Ez-Zahra, Tunisia, by guitarist Malek Ben Arbia at a young age, the band took its name from the Arabic word “mirâth,” meaning “legacy.” Initially performing blues, heavy metal, and death metal covers, the group quickly shifted toward writing original material, crafting a unique synthesis of Eastern and Western musical traditions.
Today, Myrath stands out not only for their music but also for the narrative that bridges two worlds. Blending their North African heritage with the power of metal, they have performed worldwide since the release of Tales of the Sands in 2011. With their 2024 album Karma, they introduced a renewed artistic vision to their audience.
After addressing fans from the stage of Freedoom Metal Fest in 2024, the band now returns to Turkey as part of the “Wilderness of Mirrors” tour. The European tour’s opening show will take place at IF Beşiktaş. Attendees will experience Myrath’s singular atmosphere firsthand—heavy guitars interwoven with Middle Eastern melodies, commanding vocals, and striking stage visuals promise an unforgettable night. Whether you’ve followed them for years or are discovering them for the first time, these two nights promise an uninterrupted surge of energy for metal enthusiasts.
Special Guest: Dream Ocean – A Symphonic Metal Voice from Istanbul to Europe
Founded in Istanbul in 2009 and currently based in Germany, Dream Ocean will perform on the Turkey leg of Myrath’s tour as one of symphonic metal’s notable acts. Brought to life by the powerful vocals of founder and opera-trained mezzo-soprano Başak Ylva, the band is recognized for its cinematic orchestrations, heavy guitar riffs, and epic atmosphere. Their 2018 album Lost Love Symphony received strong acclaim from the international metal press. While their sound evokes genre giants such as Epica and Nightwish, they also incorporate melodic elements rooted in their own heritage. Their dynamic stage presence has quickly drawn the attention of major European festivals.
