Maximum Presents: Yann Tiersen

Breton multi-instrumentalist Yann Tiersen will meet his audience on Saturday evening, June 20, 2026, at Maximum Uniq Open-Air with a solo piano and electronic performance as part of the tour for his new album Rathlin From A Distance | The Liquid Hour, presented with the support of Maximum. Tickets are on sale now!

Tiersen’s new album consists of two distinct yet deeply interconnected parts, each with its own sonic character.

Rathlin From A Distance is an eight-track, introspective piano journey. Tiersen describes this part as follows:

“Being at sea is a transformative experience. When you distance yourself from the noise and weight of the world, you find yourself alone with nature’s pure, untamed power—and with yourself. You begin to question your beliefs, your identity, even the person you thought you were. You shed the roles society imposes on you. The waves demand honesty. Rathlin from a Distance was born from this experience. Each piano piece is tied to both a place traveled and a moment of deep meditation. These works are internal maps—guides that lead us back to our true selves, stripped of societal patterns. It is a call to form a connection with the sincerity that comes from confronting yourself and the forces of nature that surround you.”

The second part of the album, The Liquid Hour, offers a cross-genre experience where electronic textures and dynamic psychedelic rhythms intertwine. Tiersen found inspiration for these five tracks while at sea on his sailboat, watching the distant lights of Belfast shining on the horizon:

“I feel the wounds the system has inflicted on us; a fury rises within me—primal, electric. The water becomes a mirror of this rage and hope. This is an uprising against the ivy of capitalism that chokes our roots and steals our light. A rebirth in which everything will be rebuilt, hand in hand, from heart to heart. The future isn’t something we wait for; it’s already there—bright, luminous, beyond gender. This music is for you—with your hope, your anger—for all of us. It is the music of our rising, our rebuilding.”

Yann Tiersen’s unique performance, shaped by both the sea and an inner journey, blurs the boundaries between music and nature, inviting the audience into a deep and immersive experience.
